The key to the standard of living in most economies is the productivity of its people. AMS is supporting the advancement of U.S. global competitiveness through comprehensive strategies to create immediate, intermediate, and long-term human capital portfolios that have the skills and capabilities to both earn a living in the 21st century and exercise citizen-oriented responsibilities. With the powerful collaborations of companies, educational institutions, and philanthropies, we will vector both investments and policies on education, immigration, job training, and healthcare to dramatically improve the value of our nation's human capital.
AMS is supporting a comprehensive, community-based transformation platform that will SOLVE the persistent cycle of poverty and violence in distressed communities to build a foundation for multi-generational prosperity. We are building the policy underpinnings for engaging the entire nation on the dire need for this innovative approach. Yet, real, lasting change takes more than slogans or sound bites. It requires a deep understanding of the issues, marshaling the resources and talent of the community, and managing this endeavor that will enable us to take control of our own future and transform ourselves. For too long we as a country have worked narrowly at the margins of what is a serious national issue that imperils the economic, political, and social health of not only our communities but the very foundation of the American Dream.
After a quarter millennium, the great American Experiment in self-governance “of the people, by the people, and for the people” is in some peril. In business terms, AMS believes is time for a first-quarter millennium review to seriously examine both what we have created and where the country needs to go next to redefine the American promise. Then, we must be prepared to transform our economic structures and supporting institutions to build the foundation for our next quarter millennium.
Using America’s defining charters -- the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights -- as our guide, we will conduct our first major initiative: The Philadelphia Project. The purpose of this endeavor will be to examine the original intent of our form of government and the core, societal values it embodies. Then we will apply those principles to craft modern national mission objectives based on our contemporary national needs. Taking into consideration all of our country’s capabilities, we will establish a new framework for government institutions that will enable those national objectives to be met by identifying the activities that government must do – no more, no less.
